The Role:
Purpose:
The Inlet Separation / Water Treatment Contact Engineer is part of an integrated team supporting the Surmont SAGD. As part of the Contact Engineering team the Water Contact Engineer uses their engineering skills to work closely with site operations to extract maximum value from the facilities while managing safety and risk. Knowledge and experience in SAGD chemistry is valuable along with conventional plant engineering skills in facility troubleshooting and modification.
Accountabilities:
Health Safety Environment:
* Support and adhere to ConocoPhillips Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management system
* Ensure HSE issues are given priority consideration by complying with all corporate and operating procedures to align with corporate safety standards and expectations
* Actively participate in HSE activities as a CPC Safety Leader by participating in risk assessments and hazard identification for modifications and facility revalidations, reporting of all near misses/incidents, and stop unsafe acts or situations
Technical Requirements
* Plant optimization through programs applied across the facility
* Daily operational process performance monitoring and troubleshooting
* Develop organizational relationships to increase role effectiveness
* Find engineering solutions to short term value opportunities
* Complete economic evaluation to assess various options to address issues or opportunities
* Support the development of Staff engineering initiatives
* Leveraging the Facilities Eng. / Discipline team to complete minor plant modifications
* Manage the portfolio of short - medium term opportunities in their area of accountability
* Manage minor scope engineering changes from conception to completion

Qualifications:
* Recognized degree in Engineering from an accredited university
* Active professional membership with APEGA
* 3+ years' experience preferably in SAGD with water treatment experience
* Experience and ability to work within a team-oriented and diverse cultural environment
* Strong written and oral communications skills
