The Role:
* Chassis Build support - responsible for the co-ordination between the chassis engineering function and the prototype / pre-series build teams for all build phases (x-car-line) e.g. from Simulator Build Phase through to Production Launch + 3 months
* First Point of contact for build related issues e.g. assembly issues, parts shortages, design or BoM (Bill of Material) issues
* Lead resolution of any chassis related build issues with supporting information from relevant engineers.
* Provide technical support for chassis components, chassis systems inc. software updates.
* Ensure correct PDM/ Assembly Instructions are supplied from the Chassis function and reviewed with the Build Teams in advance of the relevant build phases
* Collation of Vehicle Specifications from Chassis Engineering Teams and supplied to Fleet Department/ Build Teams ensuring Vehicle Usage Plans have correct customer requirements.
* Control Chassis VUP (Vehicle Usage Plan) and ensure vehicles are with the correct department
* Co-ordinate robust sign off cars at the end of build prior to handover to chassis development teams
* Advanced planning - responsible for preparation and updates of Chassis Build Plan
* Attend Build Meetings - present Chassis status and plan to resolve and open issues
* Work with purchasing department to ensure all orders are raised and in place and timing for parts will meet specific builds.
* Work closely with the FPM's (Functional Project Managers) to ensure all deliverables are met ensuring each build runs smoothly and efficiently.
* Support FPM with input to Part Planning Reviews to ensure all parts required for the builds have timing and are OK for build start date, have all required documentation completed for release and order - e.g. Pre-Series Build
* With engineers help recommend alternative parts that could be used if a part is not available for the build if required
* Manage updates of chassis parts onto cars that require them, also ensuring all work requests are submitted for the work.
* Raise permits (deviation documents) when necessary, signed off and agreed with the function and module team. All permits to have a closure mechanism.
* Develop delivery plans for critical parts/ updates or software flashes.
* Communication - inform Chassis Dept. of build status - weekly report to capture issues, resolution actions and vehicle build delivery timing.
* Communication - monthly presentation at Chassis Technical Review
